I can remember a-hikin' down to Fonk's and spending my hard earned quarters on thrilling things like cap guns, candy (pixy stix (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixy_Stix)), a water wiggle (ya gotta have that - it was a thing that ya put on the end of a hose it was supposed to snake around and soak ya), and the ever popular tropical fish.

An eagle-eyed lady kept watch from a perch in a manager's office high up above ya (there were some steps by the fish to take to a little office balcony thingy) to make sure ya wouldn't be a shopliftin'

There used to be (from about 2003-2005) a Fonks.com for a store in Wallace Idaho

I'm gonna be checkin' on the old Fonk's store location when I go up for the reunion next month and I'll letcha know what's there now.

Also I remember David's Department Store, Miller's Variety, and a Hobby Shop (can't remember its name) over by the Cordova Theater.

Anyone remember when Fonk's bit the dust - in the 1980's?

This photo of Fonk's looks similar to the one that was in Pullman.
